This week I picked...
What's my current WIP?? Well I'm flying by the seat of my pants with this one, but it starts off with two guys taking their best friend Sophie out camping to cheer her up after catching her boyfriend cheating on her...and includes a pretty fine menage scene. Unfortunately I won't be sharing said menage scene today - but I will share the first scene.
**Please be aware this is a rough draft - isn't critted, edited etc etc **
Sophie Tanner raised her beer bottle, dipping it to her head in a lazy salute.
“Here’s to cheating bastards and the hope karma will be sudden and long lasting.”
Her two best friends raised their beer bottles in reply and continued to stare at her with puppy dog eyes. She couldn’t handle their pity. If it was one man or the other she would be able to shrug it off, but two doses of sexy broody stares was hard to take.
“Come on guys. I thought you took me camping to cheer me up.”
Mark took another swig of his beer, sinking further into his chair as he shifted his gaze to the glow of the campfire.
“Sorry babe,” Seth apologised. “We’re doing a pretty lousy job aren’t we?”
Sophie raised her eyebrows and nodded, suggesting her “no shit” response without the need to verbalise.
“Okay then,” Seth placed his beer bottle between his knees and rubbed his hands together, full of excitement. “Why don’t we play a little game of strip poker?”
Sophie’s laughter came immediately, without hesitation and Mark simply glared at Seth.
The three of them had been friends for years and although they always talked smack and their conversations more often than not revolved around sex, they had never gone further than flirty banter. The idea of seeing both these sexy men naked brought heat to her cheeks, among other places, but she knew Seth was only joking.
“Fine. You come up with something then, you gloomy bastard.”
Always the smartass, Seth was the complete opposite to Mark. His features were lighter - blonde hair, bright blue eyes, slim athletic build against Marks dark features, muscled broad chest and shoulders.
“Leave him be, Seth. He’s still pissed I didn’t listen to his warning about Zack in the first place.”
Sophie looked at Mark, willing him to make eye contact. He’d been the same silent, angry mix of a man since she told them about catching Zack in bed with another woman.
Mark was definitely the more protective of the two and seemed to take Zack’s betrayal personally. It didn’t help that he’d warned her off Zack in the first place, but she couldn’t remember a guy she’d been with that he hadn’t warned her away from. Given her ongoing bad luck with assholes maybe she should start to listen.
“I might just head to bed anyway.” She needed some alone time to deal with the latest deception.
Mark didn’t lift his head but glanced at her through the corner of his eye, the dark brown depth of his iris now black in the darkness. The glow from the fire made all his features intense, the loose strands of hair falling around his eyes to heighted his stare, the dark two day growth of stubble making him seem rugged and oh so sexy.
“Come on, Soph. It’s only early. We still have a cooler full of beer to drink and this dickwad isn’t good company,” Seth whined.
Her sight didn’t leave Mark and the way he stared at her, his expression unreadable. “Nah, I’ve had enough already, any more and I’ll have a headache in the morning.”
She stood from her chair, reluctantly breaking eye contact with Mark. Maybe she should apologise and tell him she was sorry for not listening to his warning. He only tried to protect her after all.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow she would tell him. Maybe she could ask him to set her up with one of his friend, someone who didn’t walk around with a constant erection, always in search of the closest warm place to stick into.
“Enjoy your beers gentlemen. I’ll see you in the morning.”
